MMR campaigner from Warrington wins £90,000 payout

The mother of a Cheshire teenager who was left severely brain damaged by the MMR vaccine has won a compensation award from the government.

Robert Fletcher, 18, from Warrington, suffered a fit 10 days after he had the vaccination when he was 13 months old.

His mother Jackie received the £90,000 payout from a medical assessment panel last week.

Vaccine deaths: Demand for probe in Rajya Sabha

Demanding a thorough probe into the death of four children following Measles vaccination in Uttar Pradesh, members in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday raised doubts over the quality of vaccines.

Singh was supported by Brinda Karat (CPM), who also questioned the quality of the vaccines, supplied by a private company. Karat said 12 children have so far died in the country after being administered same vaccination.

Narcolepsy Scare with H1N1 Vaccine in Finland

H1N1 vaccinations suspended over narcolepsy scare
At least 15 cases of narcolepsy among children and young people in past six months

The possibility of compensations for children and young people diagnosed with narcolepsy recently is to be assessed later if a link between the disease and the swine flu vaccine is established, says Minister of Social Services Paula Risikko (Nat. Coalition Party).
“The matter must be evaluated when all studies have been made. Experts insist that if the illnesses and the vaccinations have a connection, we will find out.”
“I understand the pain of the families and the seriousness of the situation, but it is too early to take a stand on who has responsibility to compensate.”
